Demon softball hits 20 wins
No. 7 (3A) Washington sweeps Keokuk, knocks off No. 15 (2A) Central Lee

KEOKUK — The seventh-ranked (3A) Washington softball team went 3-0 against Lee County teams on Monday and Tuesday.
The Demons stayed unbeaten in SEC play with two wins over Keokuk on Monday, beating the Chiefs 16-4 and 14-1, and then bounced No. 15 (2A) Central Lee, 12-2, on Tuesday.
On Tuesday, Washington started the night off by breaking a 1-1 tie in Game 1 with an eight-run third inning. The Demons scored 15 runs over the third, fourth and fifth frames to bust the game wide-open.
Leighton Salazar finished the night 1-for-3 with four RBIs and two runs scored. Rylee Libe went 1-for-3 with four RBIs. Ella Greiner was 1-for-2 with three RBIs, and Emery Walton went 2-for-3 with two RBIs.
Bella Salazar picked up the win in Game 1, allowing four earned runs over five innings.
In Game 2, Washington scored nine runs over the first three innings, and eventually finished the game off with a five-run fifth.
Three Demons finished with three RBIs. Greiner went 3-for-3 with a double and three RBIs. Bella Salazar went 2-for-2 with a double and three RBIs, and Alyvia Anderson went 1-for-4 with a homer and three RBIs.
Halle Cuddeback went 3-for-4 with two RBIs. Walton went 2-for-4 with two RBIs.
Colbie Greiner picked up the win in the circle, giving up just one earned run over five innings.
The Demons didn’t let up against ranked Central Lee. The game was tied 2-2 going into the fourth inning, but Washington exploded for seven runs in the fourth and three in the fifth to reach the 10-run rule.
Bella Salazar went off on Tuesday, going 3-for-4 with two doubles and six RBIs to lead the offense. Colbie Greiner went 1-for-3 with two RBIs, and Leighton Salazar was 2-for-2 with one RBI and three runs scored.
Cuddeback picked up the win in the circle, giving up two runs (one earned) on four hits and three walks, while striking out two.
