WASHINGTON — Perhaps the Washington softball team got all the bad mojo out in their last regular season game of the year.
The Demons were silenced at the plate by visiting Solon on Friday night, and the Spartans did plenty of damage with the bats of their own as Solon took down Washington 12-1.

Solon scored the first seven runs of the ballgame. Washington got one back in the bottom of the fifth when Ava Turner knocked in Emmy Wenger, but that was the only run the Demons would get all night.
Solon would tack on five runs in the top of the seventh to pull away.
Washington gathered up just four hits on the night. Turner led the team, going 1-for-3 with an RBI. Lauren Hinrichsen was 1-for-2. Wenger went 1-for-3 with a run scored, and Leighton Salazar was 1-for-3.
Bella Salazar started the game in the circle for the Demons, giving up seven runs (six earned) on seven hits and one walk, while striking out one batter. She threw five innings. Halle Cuddeback let in five runs (two earned) on five hits in two innings of relief.
Washington finished the season 13-24 overall. The Demons will try to upset No. 4 West Burlington (23-7) on Wednesday in the Class 3A Region 8 quarterfinals. That game will be played at West Burlington.
