Demon, Trojan boys and MP girls strike in SEC play
Area bowling sees three local squads pick up conference wins

All Union area Southeast Conference bowling teams were in action before the weekend, and three of those squads put a win on the board in league play.
Mt. Pleasant hosted Washington, while Fairfield traveled to Burlington in what was the first full day on the conference schedule.
In Mt. Pleasant, the Washington boys’ team continued to put up huge numbers, beating the rival Panthers 2,754-2,371.
The Demons were led by Mitchell Zieglowsky’s 451, and Kelton Burke’s 429.
Kaeden Zear finished at 366. Cooper Zahs rolled a 342. Landen Hawkins bowled a 295, and Mason Pierce finished at 263.
Mt. Pleasant’s Ethan Payne finished at 374 to lead the team. Joseph Rheinschmidt bowled a 352. Mason Frueh finished up at 328. Xachary LaBlanc rolled a 302. Rhys Nelson finished at 297, and Ethan Spencer bowled a 251.
On the girls’ side, Washington didn’t have any bowlers competing, allowing Mt. Pleasant to get a forfeit victory. The Panther girls did still bowl and did quite well for themselves, bowling a 2,178. It was the first time the Mt. Pleasant girls have eclipsed 2,000 this season.
The Panther girls were led by Shyann Smith’s 359. Natalie Brush ended at 351. Savannah Smith bowled a 287. Madelyn Millard finished at 269. Annette Reynolds bowled a 239, and Addison Butcher finished up at 233.
Fairfield and Burlington played in a couple of nail-biters. The Trojan boys won by just 15 pins, beating the Grayhounds 2,563-2,548. Meanwhile, the Fairfield girls fell by just 23 pins, dropping their contest 1,571-1,548.
Dayson Workman led the Fairfield boys, bowling a 512. Blake Ballew finished at 334. Henry Swan bowled a 304. Kris Powell finished at 285. Corbin Starr bowled a 281, and Eli Aplara finished at 273.
On the girls’ side, Autumn McBride bowled a 342 to lead Fairfield. Emma Cass finished at 237. Emma Forrest bowled a 223. Braezen Stutzman finished at 183. Brooklyn Gridley bowled a 146, and Savannah Garretson finished at 130.
