BURLINGTON — The Washington wrestling team was at Burlington High School on Thursday for a Southeast Conference road dual. The Demons had a strong start, but couldn’t keep it going in a 51-27 loss to Burlington.
Washington won the first four matches of the day, as Caden Greiner picked up a 7-6 decision at 132 pounds, and Jude Carter (138), Jack Kleese (145) and Chase Greiner (152) all had pins, but a number of forfeits, along with a couple of losses on the mats, led to the Demons dropping the next nine bouts.
Aaron Boone scooped up six points for the Demons at 126 pounds, but by that time, but by that time, the Grayhounds had wrapped it up.
Washington finished the 2023 SEC season 2-3, which currently lines the Demons up for a fourth-place finish.
