Area girls golf teams battle in weekend tournament

BURLINGTON — The Washington, Fairfield and Mt. Pleasant girls golf teams were at Flint Hills Golf Course in Burlington on Monday for an all-day tournament. The Demons once again led the area, taking second place.
Washington ended the day with a 361. That put the Demons in second place behind Bettendorf’s 345.
Makenna Conrad shot 84 to lead the Demons. Kaylin Long finished at 86. Alecia Goff scored 92, and Mallary Johnson rounded out the scorers with a 99.
Maci Williams shot a 109 for the Demons. Haley Mitchell was the sixth Washington player on the board, finishing at 115.
Fairfield shot a 398 to take sixth on the day. The Trojans had two players in double digits, as Viola Welsh shot a 90, and Macy Rayburn ended at 95.
Maggie Rayburn finished the tournament at 104. Kate Pettit was the fourth scorer, with a 109. Julie Crile shot a 112.
Mt. Pleasant’s Samantha Wibben was the top Union area golfer. Wibben shot 40 on her front nine and 42 on the back nine to end at 82, putting her in third place individual.
Kylie Walderbach was also in action for the Panthers. She shot at 106.
