Demons claim one at home tournament
At their home tournament, the Washington volleyball team picked up a win in pool play against Tri-County, and played a number of tough matches as they went 1-3 on the day.

At their home tournament, the Washington volleyball team picked up a win in pool play against Tri-County, and played a number of tough matches as they went 1-3 on the day.
After the tournament, Washington sits at 6-21 on the year with a pair of conference matches this week. The Demons need one more win this year to eclipse their win total from last year.
In the lone victory on Saturday, the Demons won in straight sets, 21-14, 21-10, with a strong defensive and serving attack.
Junior Jessie Buchholz went 6-for-6 serving in the match, notching five aces, as Washington went 31-for-33 on serves as a team.
Senior Amber Salow led the team with five digs in the match, while Buchholz had four. Offensively, the Demons were led by senior McKenna Brinning?s four kills, followed by Olivia Postl?s three kills.
Megan Mitchell had seven assists in the victory.
The two other pool play matches for the Demons ended in three sets, as Iowa Mennonite came back from a 21-14 first set loss to defeat the Demons 21-16, 15-10 in the next two sets. In a match against Regina, the Demons split the first two sets with the Regals, with both sets ending at 21-18, before Regina pulled away in the third set for a 15-6 victory.
In the match against IMS, Brinning led the team offensively with five kills, followed by Kimball?s four and Buchholz?s three. Both Joceline Spenner and Salow notched two aces, but the Demons weren?t as sharp on their serving, converting at a rate of 73.3 percent.
Salow led the team with 10 digs in the match, while Mitchell had 13 assists.
Against Regina, the Demons? serving was improved, coming through at a rate of 88.6 percent, with senior Emma Stout and Kimball each converting two aces.
Kimball led the team with six kills in the match, while Mitchell had 12 assists and Salow finished with 13 digs.
In the final match of the day against Wapello, the Arrows picked up a straight set victory, defeating the Demons 25-12, 25-23.
The Demons only picked up seven kills in the match, with Brinning, Buchholz and Kimball each notching two to their credit, while Salow finished the match with a team-high seven digs, followed by Kimball?s six.
Washington will hit the road on Tuesday for a match at Fairfield, before celebrating senior night on Thursday against Keokuk.
