Demons, Cobras ranked fifth in new polls

In the second week of in-season polling, the Gazette and Associated Press voters seem to agree on a few major issues, notably where the Union Area football teams belong in the Top-10 polls.

Both Washington and Sigourney-Keota are slotted in at No. 5 in their respective classes, in both polls. The Demons actually dropped one spot in the Gazette spot, giving way to Council Bluffs Lewis Central. The Demons were given two first place votes in the AP poll, one of five Class 3A teams to receive votes.

S-K rose three spots in the Class 1A poll. The Cobras, like the Demons, moved to 2-0 this week, and the Class 1A field was rocked by upsets.

The polls agreed on No. 1 spots. West Des Moines Dowling, Dallas Center-Grimes, Prairie City Monroe, Ida Grove OABCIG, Grundy Center and Don Bosco all stayed atop their respective classes.
