Demons dip one spot in new poll

Washington's West Liberty forfeiture didn't do much in the minds of the Cedar Rapids Gazette/KGYM Radio/Southeast Iowa Union. The Demons did drop one spot, from No. 7 to No. 8, but a closer look at the polls shows it was a minimal drop at best.

Washington and Sergeant Bluff-Luton were tied for the No. 7 spot last week. This week, SB-L is not only one spot above the Demons, but one point. SB-L received 26 points in the Class 3A poll and Washington picked up 25.

Speaking of one point, that's exactly how far off Sigourney-Keota is from the top 10 in Class 1A. Class 1A has been the most consistent class in Iowa. Every team in the top 10 is undefeated, blocking S-K from jumping into the rankings.

After yet another dominant win this week, this time a 40-6 shelling over Wilton, S-K received seven votes in the newest poll. 10th-ranked Underwood received eight.
