Demons double on Fort Madison
Washington softball picks up wins nine and 10 with pair of victories over Fort Madison

FORT MADISON — Washington softball stayed perfect in Southeast Conference play on Monday night as the Demons grabbed a pair of wins over Fort Madison.
The Demons defeated the Bloodhounds 10-7 in the first game and 16-4 in the second.
In game one, Fort Madison held the advantage for four straight innings.
The Bloodhounds opened with two runs in the first frame.
Washington got on the board in the second and followed up with one additional run in the third to tie it at 2-2.
Fort Madison answered with two more in the bottom half of the inning though to pull back in front, 4-2.
Two runs is as large a lead the Bloodhounds would hold as Washington dominated in the final three innings.
After a scoreless in the fourth inning, the Demons scored a trio of runs in the fifth to make it 5-4.
Washington would never trail again.
In the top of the sixth, the Demons added two more runs to their total.
Fort Madison put one on the board in the bottom half of the sixth frame to cut the Demon lead to two, 7-5.
A three run inning by the Demons in the seventh would be more than enough to seal the victory.
Fort Madison score twice in the final frame.
Ella Greiner was very efficient in the game. Greiner went 4-for-5 and hit for the cycle with a single, double, triple and home run along with two RBIs.
Leighton Salazar and Lauren Hinrichsen both had a pair of hits in the game.
Haley Mitchell, Isabella Salazar, Colbie Greiner and Emery Walton all had one hit. Salazar and Greiner each had two RBIs as well. Mitchell finished with one RBI.
Isabella Salazar threw for six innings in the win. She allowed seven runs (five earned) on 10 hits, five walks and five strikeouts. Colbie Greiner pitched one inning striking out two.
In game two, the Demons found themselves down after the first inning once again.
The deficit didn’t last long though.
Fort Madison led 4-1 after the first, but they never scored again and the Demons went on to score in all but one inning.
Washington scored 10 runs through the next three innings for an 11-4 lead heading into the fifth.
The Demons went on to add one in the fifth and four more in the sixth frame to cap off the victory.
Leighton Salazar went 4-for-5 in the victory with a pair of RBIs. Lauren Hinrichsen finished 3-for-3 with two RBIs. Haley Mitchell finished 2-for-4 with a team high three RBIs.
Colbie Griener tallied two hits and two RBIs. Ella Greiner had a hit and two RBIs. Isabella Salazar had a hit and one RBI. Emery Walton and Kendall Hinrichsen each had a hit and one RBI.
Halle Cuddeback threw a complete game, giving up four runs (zero earned) on five hits, four walks and one strikeout.
The Demons improve to 10-4 with the pair of wins and 5-0 in SEC play.
