Demons drop two at home versus Grayhounds
Washington loses lead, shutout in a pair of games

WASHINGTON — Washington baseball suffered back-to-back losses on Monday night in a Southeast Conference clash with Burlington.
The Demons were defeated by the Grayhounds 7-4 and 10-0 in the two games.
In game one, Washington saw its first inning lead dwindle an inning later.
After sitting the Grayhounds down in the top of the first inning, the Demons knocked in a pair of runs in the their half of the inning to make it 2-0.
For the Demons, it was their only lead of the night.
Burlington quickly turned the game in its favor a half inning later, bringing four runs home in the second.
The Demons delivered a single run in the bottom of the second to pull within one, 4-3. One run is as close as they would come.
Between the third and sixth innings, the Demons and Grayhounds traded one run each. With the game at 5-4 in the seventh, Burlington added two more to its total and the Demons couldn’t make up the difference.
In game two, Burlington’s single run in the opening frame was enough to get the win.
The Demons struggled to get runners on the base pads and the Grayhounds continued to tac it on.
Burlington went on to score five runs between the third and fourth inning, while adding four more in the sixth to end it.
With the pair of losses, Washington drops to 3-9 in SEC play and 4-15 overall.
