Demons dual their way to win in Mt. Pleasant
Washington grabs nine wins, Mt. Pleasant five in Southeast Conference head-to-head
MT. PLEASANT — Mt. Pleasant and Washington wrestling tangled on the mats Thursday night in yet another Southeast Conference dual.
The Panthers and Demons gave fans some great matches through the evening, but when all was said and done it was Washington heading out of Mt. Pleasant with a 45-30 victory.
Washington kicked things off on a high note. The Demons notched four straight victories first coming from Nate Edmonds at 113. Edmonds pinned the Panther’s Sawyer Fulton in 1:01.
Eddy Rodriguez accepted a win by forfeit at 120 and then Caden Greiner (126) and Aaron Boone (132) each scored pins in 3:31 and 1:20. Greiner defeated the Panther’s Lane Beckler and Boone topped Charlie Bohnenkamp.
Mt. Pleasant followed up its first victory of the night as Jefferson Ramirez Avalos pinned the Demon’s Layne Moore in 2:43 at 138.
However, Washington added two more wins to its total as Lane Schrock (150) and Chase Greiner (157) won by decision 7-1 and fall in 1:18.
Over the course of the next four matches, the Panthers and Demons traded back and forth. Mt. Pleasant’s Tucker French won at 165, Washington’s Blaine Rees at 175, Payton Walker grabbed another win at 190 for Mt. Pleasant and then Washington’s Greyson Hartman at 215.
While the dual was out of reach by that point, the Panther’s finished strong as Juan Lopez (285) and Landon Beckler (106) closed out the head-to-head with wins.
