Demons dump Keokuk in SEC softball finale
Washington puts up 19 runs in conference road sweep

KEOKUK — The Washington softball team wrapped up its Southeast Conference schedule by handing Keokuk a pair of home losses on Thursday night.
The Demons popped the Chiefs 10-4 in Game 1 and 9-3 in Game 2 to pick up a pair of victories, and to finish league play just two games shy of .500.
Leadoff hitter Leighton Salazar lit it up in Game 1. The Demon eighth-grader went 3-for-4 with a double and three RBIs at the plate. She scored three runs and also swiped four bases.
Bella Salazar played long ball, finishing 2-for-3 with a home run, a double and a team-leading four RBIs. She also struck out seven in a complete-game win in the circle. Ava Turner knocked in two runs.
RyLee Fishback burned the Chiefs in Game 2, going 3-for-4 with a double and four RBIs. Alyvia Anderson knocked in a pair, and Halle Cuddeback struck out five batters over six innings to earn the win.
Washington finished the year 13-24 overall and 9-11 in conference play after a loss to Solon over the weekend. The Demons will start up postseason play with a road game at top-seeded West Burlington in the Class 3A Regional quarterfinals on Wednesday.
