Washington basketball goes down to the wire with Williamsburg

WASHINGTON — Washington will end 2024 on a high note after downing Williamsburg in a non-conference bout last Saturday night.
The Demons won the down to the wire matchup 53-51.
It was the Raiders who jumped out to the narrow lead early, outscoring Washington 10-8 in the first quarter. Williamsburg followed the first period with a 12-11 second to push its lead to just three, 22-19, at the half.
Despite dropping each of the first two quarters to the Raiders, the second half belong to the Demons.
Washington answered back in a big way, scoring its quarter high 19 points in the third quarter. Despite the scoring outburst, Williamsburg stayed right in it.
The two squads were tied a 38-38 by the end of the third. When it mattered most Washington prevailed. The Demons went on to edge the Raiders 15-13 in the final quarter to win it.
Nic Stone led Washington with 12 points. Logan McDole followed with 11 and Rajan Roth scored 10.
Washington improves to 5-3 with the victory.
