After scoring the opening goal of the game, things went from bad to worse for the Washington boys? soccer team.
Khaven Wagenknect headed in a ball to give the Demons a 1-0 lead in a district matchup with Fort Madison on Tuesday, but that wouldn?t hold.
Fort Madison responded with five unanswered goals before Washington?s Christian Mejia found the back of the net with eight seconds left, giving the Demons a season-ending 5-2 loss.
Washington ends the season with a record of 3-11 and went winless in the conference, one year after claiming the programs? first ever conference title.
Four seniors will graduate from this year?s team, and next year the team will be coached by Sally Hart, who will take over for Steven Caulk, who is stepping down from the position.
