The season came to an end for the Washington volleyball team on Wednesday night.
The Demons traveled to Eldridge for their regional tournament opening game against North Scott, but the Lancers proved to be too much, defeating Washington in straight sets, 25-15, 25-8, 25-19.
The loss ended Washington?s year at 3-24, but the theme of the season was growth and improvement, something the Demons certainly did at the end of the year, picking up their three match victories at the final third of the season.
Washington fell behind early in the contest, with North Scott jumping out to a 15-6 lead, but a Washington run brought them within four points at 17-13.
North Scott rattled off an 8-2 run to end the set, claiming a win.
In the second game, Washington was unable to gain a rhythm, as the Lancers cruised to a 25-8 victory.
In Game 3, Washington jumped out to its first lead of the night, 3-1 over the Lancers, but a 13-3 North Scott run put them up 14-6.
Washington responded late in the game, putting together a 5-1 run, but a competitive end to the set ended in North Scott?s favor, 25-19, giving them the match victory.
The Demons will say goodbye to three seniors, Liv Postl, Jessie Buchholz and Alexis Turner, who were crucial to the team?s play this season.
