PELLA — The Washington Demons lost a road nonconference baseball game to Pella 4-1 Monday.
Three errors led to two unearned runs among four Washington pitchers. Zeke Slagel, and Kole Williams threw two innings each for all four runs. Slagel gave up a hit, two walks and struck out one. Williams allowed five hits, fanned one and was responsible for the other runs.
Ethan Zieglowsky hit a double, and Washington teammate Reece Mayer had the only other hit against Pella pitcher Mason Wittmer, who struck out 12 without a walk.
Pella is 19-15 and Washington is 15-12 with a game against Solon (25-11) Tuesday. The postseason starts Friday when the Demons host Clear Creek-Amana (15-16).
