Demons fall to Mepo in regional duals
The Washington wrestling team made a return trip to Mediapolis on Tuesday for a regional tournament dual, and fell in the second match-up of the night to end the team dual season.

The Washington wrestling team made a return trip to Mediapolis on Tuesday for a regional tournament dual, and fell in the second match-up of the night to end the team dual season.
The Demons defeated Albia 39-18 in the first dual of the night, but fell to the host and No. 3 ranked Bulldogs 66-18.
Against Albia, Washington opened up the dual with a pair of pin falls from Karlton and Brad Skubal, both coming in the first period, before Albia picked up a pin to make it 12-6.
Mitchell Huisenga picked up a 3-2 decision for the Demons at 285 pounds, while Alex Latcham picked up a pin fall to give the Demons a 21-6 lead.
Cody Mellinger picked up a forfeit at 113 and Kiowa Keith had a forfeit victory at 126, which was followed by a pin fall from Michael Ellingson in 36 seconds to secure the victory.
Albia picked up a pin fall and two decision wins in the last three matches of the dual.
Against Mediapolis, the Bulldogs took the first three matches of the night, with one by forfeit and the next two by pin fall.
Latcham and Mellinger each picked up pin falls at 106 and 113, but Mediapolis went on to win the next eight matches, with four coming by forfeit.
Three of the losses were by pin fall and the other by technical fall.
Washington took the last match of the night with Karlton Skubal winning by forfeit.
The team season is over for the Demons, but six wrestlers will take part in the district tournament on Saturday in Fairfield.
