WASHINGTON — A 2-0 start has sparked a lot of excitement for the Washington football team, which looks to keep its unbeaten streak alive against what may be the Demons’ toughest test yet.
A 1-1 Clear Creek-Amana team will travel down to Washington on Friday night. The Demons, who will be hosting ‘Heroes Night,’ will kick off with the Clippers at 7:30 p.m.
The Demons will be looking for a little revenge after a 48-14 Clear Creek-Amana win last season. Washington has lost four of the last six matchups against the Clippers.
Washington started its season with a 21-14 home win over Burlington. Last week, the Demons took out rival Mt. Pleasant, 54-20.
Clear Creek-Amana made some early waves with a 26-0 smoking of Marion. The Clippers, however, were done in by Independence in a defensive struggle, 13-7, last Friday.
Washington has run the ball at will in the first two weeks, racking up 577 yards and seven touchdowns on the ground as a team in just a pair of games. Senior running back Tayven Stuart has sliced up defenses for 314 yards and six scores.
Ethan Patterson has rushed for 175 yards from the quarterback position. In just nine completions, he has piled up 149 passing yards and four scores. Jude Brown has 81 rushing yards, 73 receiving yards and two total touchdowns.

Clear Creek-Amana’s Jackson Schmidt has thrown for 164 yards and two touchdowns this season, and he’s the Clippers’ leading rusher too, going for 210 yards and a score.
Running back Sam Pettinger is the only other Clipper over 100 yards on the ground. He has rushed for 120 yards and two scores.
Six different Clear Creek-Amana receivers have caught passes and none of them are over 65 yards. The Demons will l need to watch Brody Clubb, who has caught three passes for 63 yards and a score to lead the Clipper pass-catchers.
Clear Creek-Amana’s Brock Sherman leads the team with 20 tackles this year. Asher Roehler’s one fumble recovery is the squad’s only take-away.
