Mt. Pleasant girls, Washington boys both finish 3rd

WASHINGTON — A handful of area teams were at Case Field in Washington on Thursday, and one of them walked out with a win.
The Mid-Prairie girls won a competitive team race with 130 points, just eight more than Cedar Rapids Prairie. The Mt. Pleasant girls and Washington boys each finished third, and the Washington girls and Mt. Pleasant boys both finished fourth.
Mid-Prairie’s championship was anchored by a double win by star distance runner Danielle Hostetler. The Golden Hawks’ stand out won the 1500-meter run in 4 minutes, 52.66 seconds, and took the 300-meter run in 10:27.22.
Mid-Prairie’s sprint medley squad of Madeline Schrader, Amara Jones, Jovi Evans and Tabitha Evans won as well. They crossed the tape in 1:53.86.
The Mt. Pleasant girls had three wins on the day, two of which came in the field. Ella Ensminger won the shot put with a throw of 36 feet, 5.50 inches, and Savannah Slobodnik won the discus throw with a hurl of 99 feet, 8 inches.
Also winning for Mt. Pleasant was Rellana Van Deuren. She won the 400-meter hurdles in 1:14.19.
Washington’s Iris Dahl won the 800-meter run in 2:27.28. Fairfield’s shuttle hurdle squad of Maya Lane, Lilly Bergren, Hayley Reinier and Maddy Martin took first, in 1:13.48, and Highland’s Sarah Burton won the long jump with a leap of 16 feet, 11 inches.
The Washington boys scooped up four wins on the day, including two distance wins for Micah Rees. Rees won the 1600-meter run in 4:37.60, and took the 3200 in 9:59.91.
Brayden Hartman had a huge performance in the shot put, throwing in 56 feet for another Demon win. Ethan Patterson won the 100-meter dash in 11.65 seconds.
The Mid-Prairie boys had two wins on the day. Jayse Yoder won the 800-meter run in 2:04.19, and Cain Brown took the long jump in 20 feet, 9 inches.
The Mt. Pleasant boys had a winner in Will Davidson, who took the 110-meter hurdles, with 14.73 seconds. The Fairfield boys had one win, as Ryan Giberson took the high jump with a leap of 6 feet even.
