Demons, Huskies claim sectional titles

Both Highland and Washington won Iowa High School Athletic Association sectional wrestling meets Saturday to advance to Tuesday's regional team duals.
Washington will wrestle at Manchester against West Delaware. The winner of that match will face the winner of West Liberty and Camanche for the right to advance to state Feb. 13 at Wells Fargo Arena in Des Moines.
Highland will wrestle at Denver against Denver. The winner will face the winner of Alburnett and Beckman Catholic for the right to go to state.
Individuals that placed first or second advance to Saturday's district meets. Washington is hosting the Class 2A District 8 meet. Highland will go to the Class 1A District 8 meet at Wilton.
At Fairfield, Washington champions were Garrett Ikerd, Dillan Sanders, David Hora, Tristin Westphal-Edwards, Logan Escher and Tristan Allender. Second-place finishers were Walker Ikerd, Brandon Dickel and Ayden Frazier.
At West Branch, Highland had three champions in Brady Hahn, Cory Stewart and Dan Burton. Second-place finishers were Geoff Streb, Cael Yeggy and Jordan Sosa.
Columbus/Winfield-Mt. Union and Mid-Prairie wrestled at Solon's sectional. C/W-MU's Jarod Kadel won a sectional title as did Mid-Prairie's Isaac Boucher. Second-place finishers were C/W-MU's Lane Scorpil and Mid-Prairie's Colton Allen. They will advance to the distict at Washington.
WACO and Sigourney-Keota wrestled at Sigourney's sectional. Title winners were Mason Dye of Sigourney-Keota and Jonah Clark and Jalen Collins of WACO, Second-place finishers were Robert Frazer and Larz Smith of WACO with Trent Hendricks of SK. They will advance to the district at Wilton.
