Demons, Mid-Prairie run at Mt. Pleasant

MT. PLEASANT - The Washington and Mid-Prairie high schools attended the Mt. Pleasant Co-Ed Relays Thursday at Mapleleaf Stadium.
No team scores were kept.
'I enjoy this meet tremendously because I run guys in different things,” WHS coach Steve Roth said. 'I mix things up more than usual.”
Washington had one victor in Ethan Hunt, who won the 400 meters in 53.34 seconds.
Mitchell Driscoll was second for Washington in the 200 in 23.59.
'Those two were very impressive,” Roth said. 'So was Justin Simmering in the 800, Lincoln Kleese in the hurdles and long jump, and Evan Horak and Lance Sobaski ran personal bests in the 1600.”
Kleese's leap of 19 feet, 6 inches was good for third place in the long jump. Evan Horak was fourth in the 1600 in 4 minutes, 53.84 seconds. Justin Simmering was fourth in the 800 with a time of 2:05.61. Kleese took fifth in the 110 high hurdles in 16.7. Adam Kael's discus toss of 126-6 was sixth.
The 4x4 relay team placed fourth in 3:37.63 with Hunt, Ben Schieffer, Justin Simmering and Driscoll. Cade Pohren, Brandon Dickel, Wyatt Stout and Jacob Miller were sixth in the 4x2 in 1:39.33. The sprint medley was fourth with Dickel, Miller, Spencer Sotelo and Hunt with a time of 1:39.99. The distance medley was fourth with Pohren, Luke Turner, Driscoll and Horak with a time of 3:52.32. The shuttle hurdle was fifth in 1:10.59 with Kleese, Schiefer, James Medrano and Jarrett Bender.
The Demon girls got a couple of second-place finishes.
Leah Marek, Isabel Bailey, Ashley Telleen and Jenah Greiner placed second in the 4x2 with a time of 1:52.63. Greiner took second in the long jump with a leap of 15 feet, 8.25 inches. Bailey was fourth at 15-2.5.
Marek, Bailey, Greiner and Telleen were sixth in the 4x1 in 53.04. Greiner was fourth in the 100 in 13.56 and Bailey was sixth in 13.76. The sprint medley team of Demeri Bell, Elyse Hunt, Leah Marek and Telleen was sixth in 2:04.68.
The Golden Hawks of Mid-Prairie had a number of winners.
Mid-Prairie's boys 800 sprint medley won with Clarke Latchem, Josh Wallington, Aiden Rath and Grant Boyse. Their first-place time was 1:39.1. Quinn Schmidt, Brad Tornow, Thaddeus Shelter and Miles Burrows were the first-place team of the 4x8 in 8:47.57. The 4x2 relay won in 1:34.98 with Elmir Ganibegovic, Boyse, Tom Butters and Rath.
The Golden Hawks won the girls 4x8 in 10:12.61 with Mitzi Evans, Abbagail Evans, Angelina Evans and Marie Hostetler. Tori Boyse had the best discus throw at 117-3 and the third best shot put at 34-4. Amber Swart won the 100 with a time of 13.11. Hostetler won the 1500 with a time of 4:54.36 and was fourth in the 800 in 2:23.12.
There were other placewinners for Mid-Praire.
Micah Gugel was second in the shot put at 45-11. Butters was fifth in the long jump at 18-11. Rath placed sixth with a high jump of 5-8. Burrows was fourth in the 400 hurdles in 59.96. Schmidt was fourth in the 400 at 54.68. Ganibegovic was sixth in the 100 in 11.64.
The 4x4 was third in 3:37.25 with Boyse, Ganibegovic, Burrows and Schmidt. Jack Baker, Wallington, Caleb Thomas and Spencer Yutzy placed sixth in the distance medley with a time of 4:11.03.
Kessa Jones hurdled her way to second place in the 400 hurdles with a time of 1:16.39. The distance medley was second with Swart, Cassidy Rourke, Abbigail Evans and Mitzi Evans in 4:30.15. The 4x4 was third in 4:28.34 with Mitzi Evans, Abbagail Evans, Angelina Evans and Sarah Meader. Another third place was the 4x1 with Swart, Rourke, Maddie Edgington and Rylee Vercande, finishing with a time of 52.61. The 4x2 relay of Vercande, Rourke, Edgington and Karsen Jehle was fourth in 1:58.58.
