Demons, Panthers lead All-SEC boys

The Southeast Conference released its All-Conference boys basketball team over the weekend and the Union Coverage area was well represented on the list. Conference champion Washington had four players selected to the first or second teams. Mt. Pleasant led the league with five total names, two of which were on the honorable mention list, and Fairfield had four players listed total.
The All-Conference first team featured two Keokuk players, two Washington players and two Mt. Pleasant players.
Washington sophomore Kasen Bailey, who was injured before the postseason, was one of three unanimous first-teamers. Bailey was the third-leading scorer in the conference, and the top underclassmen, scoring 13.4 points per game. He also finished the year with 25 rebounds and 25 assists.
Joined on the first team is teammate Luke Turner, one of three seniors named to the squad. Turner was fifth on the Demon team with eight points per game, and led the entire conference with 106 assists. He also finished the year with 75 rebounds.
Mt. Pleasant senior duo Clayton Lowery and Keegan Kohorst made the first team. Lowery was one of the other three unanimous selections, with the third being Player of the Year Anthony Potratz.
Lowery finished fourth in the SEC in scoring, putting up 12.9 points per game. He was also second on the team with 96 rebounds, and also led the squad with 57 steals and 14 blocks.
Washington's two second-team nominations were freshman Ethan Patterson and junior Trashaun Willis. Patterson finished the year with 10.1 points per game, second on the team, and made a team-high 37 3-pointers. Willis was third on the Demon team with 9.3 points per game. He was fifth in the league in rebounds, with 111.
Fairfield's Drew Martin picked up a second-team honor. The senior led the Trojans with 11.7 points per game, and led the entire league in rebounds, with 163. He was also second on the team in assists, with 45.
Mt. Pleasant senior Jaxon Hoyle represented the Panthers on the second team. Hoyle scored 9.6 points per game, third best on the team, finished third on the team in rebounds, with 76, and finished second in the SEC in made 3-pointers, with 41.
The Trojan trio of senior Carter Ferrel, senior Elan Ledger and freshman Max Weaton were all named to the honorable mention list. Mt. Pleasant had two players, senior Brody Bender and junior Brevin Wilson were both selected to the list.
