Demons, Panthers pick up wins at Grinnell tournament

GRINNELL - Both Washington and Mt. Pleasant appeared in the Grinnell volleyball tournament on Saturday, and both teams walked away with one win on the day. The two Southeast Conference squads each picked up a 2-0 win over East Marshall, while falling in the rest of the games played that day.

Washington went 1-3 on the day. The Demons beat East Marshall 21-14 and 21-16. Their three losses came to Grinnell (18-21, 21-16, 15-13), West Liberty (21-8, 21-2) and Carlisle (21-10, 21-15).

Addison Six led the Demons with 16 kills on the day. Alexa Mitchell finished the tournament with 33 assists.

Mt. Pleasant went 1-4 on the day. The Panthers took Down East Marshall 21-9 and 21-13. Their losses came at the hands of Iowa Valley (21-14, 21-18), Carlisle (21-16, 21-12), Iowa Valley (21-17, 22-24, 15-8) and Dallas Center-Grimes (12-12, 21-15).

Avery Sutter led the Panthers with 13 kills in the tournament. Ralyn Seberg had 16 assists on the day. Reece Barton had 15 kills.
