Demons place 10th at state tournament
Washington’s Roth ties for seventh, Hillcrest’s Rempel ties for 16th

AMES — Both Washington and Hillcrest Academy boys golf ended their season on Tuesday at the Iowa High School State Tournament in Ames.
Washington played at Veenker Memorial Golf Course, 3A, while Hillcrest Academy’s Rempel golfed at Ames Golf and County Club, 1A.
As a team, the Demons end their 2022 campaign with a 10th place finish, shooting a 741 in the competition.
The leading golfer for Washington in the tournament was Roman Roth.
The sophomore made a huge jump from Day One.
After the opening round, Roth was tied for 20th after shooting an 84. On Tuesday in round two, he finished with a 76 leaping all the way to seventh-place. His overall score in the tournament was 160.
Luke Beenblossom finished his a total score of 191 at state, tying for 55th. Teague Mayer ended with 193, for a share of 57th. John Prochaska shot 198 for 60th. Grant Sobaski chipped in 201 for 61st and Isaac Vetter shot 207 for 62nd overall.
Rempel topped his opening day score on the second. After shooting a 91 on Day One, he bounced back with an 87 on day two.
He ends his state tournament run with a final score of 178 and a tie for 16th.
