KEOKUK — Tuesday night’s Southeast Conference volleyball clash between Washington and Keokuk decided which was going to end the 2023 regular season with an above .500 league record, and when the dust settled, that team was the Demons.
Washington rallied back from down two sets to one to knock off the Chiefs in their own house, winning the match in five sets.
The Demons came out strong, dominating the first set 25-13 to take an early advantage, but Keokuk came fighting back. The Chiefs won Set 2, 25-20 and Set 3, 25-19, to take a 2-1 advantage, and put Washington’s back against the wall.
The fourth set proved to be the tightest of the night. Washington had to fight tooth and nail to stay alive with a 25-22 win, tying the match up at 2-2.
Washington parlayed that momentum into a win in Set 5. The Demons took out the Chiefs 15-7.
The Demons moved to 3-2 in conference play with the win, which will either earn them the No. 2 seed or No. 3 seed in the 2023 SEC tournament.
