The Southeast Iowa Conference announced its top athletes from this past volleyball season, and the Washington Demons were well-represented on the list.
Four Demons were listed among the conference?s best competitors, led by one second-team selection.
Senior Liv Postl helped lead the 3-23 Demons this season, and earned that second-team slot in the conference, notching 97 kills on the season to lead the team.
Postl finished tied for the team lead in aces, claiming 15 on the year, and second on the team with 19 blocks.
Postl was one of three seniors on the squad, and was joined by fellow senior, Jessie Buchholz, on the postseason team.
Buchholz notched an honorable mention selection for her efforts this year, notching 54 kills to go with a .964 serving percentage and 15 aces. She also finished third on the team in digs, flying for 98 this season.
Junior Megan Mitchell was also an honorable mention selection, spending the season as the team?s setter.
Her 243 assists put her at fourth in the conference, while she also picked up 89 digs and served at a rate of .942, missing only seven serves on the year.
Junior Morgan Brinning was an all-around athlete for the Demon volleyball squad, also earning an honorable mention selection.
Brinning notched 13 aces on the season, finishing second on the team with 110 digs. She also notched 32 kills on the year.
The Demons will lose Postl, Buchholz and Alexis Turner (57 kills, .972 serving percentage, 14 aces, 82 digs) to graduation come May, but they will look to build on a strong foundation set in 2016.
