After a tough loss to start the season, the Washington boys? soccer team found their groove on Friday afternoon.
Washington rebounded quickly from its shutout loss to open the season, shutting out intracounty foe Highland 7-0 on the road to pick up it first win of the year.
The win put Washington at 1-1 on the season, while Highland fell to 0-3 on the year.
Propelling the Demons to the win was sophomore Thomas Zimmer, who kept Highland out of the back of the net for 80 minutes, posting his third career shutout and first of the season, making seven saves to secure the victory.
Offensively, Tony Torres led a balanced Demon attack, scoring two goals and recording an assist along the way.
Freshman Logan Escher, freshman Garrett Ikerd, senior Christian Mejia, freshman Julio Salgado-Hernandez and freshman Tristan Westphal-Edwards each recorded goals in the contest.
Washington will take this momentum into their home opener against Mid-Prairie on Tuesday afternoon.
Highland, who has yet to record a goal in three contests this season, will face Burlington/Notre Dame on the road on Tuesday.
