Dahl, Hinrichsen lead way for Washington track and field teams

WAVERLY — The Washington track and field teams took part in a high school indoor meet at Wartburg College in Waverly on Tuesday night. The Demons had 15 Top-10 finishes on the day, including three Top-5 results, all on the girls’ side.
The best run of the day went to Iris Dahl, who took second place in the 800-meter run. Dahl crossed the line in 2 minutes, 28.25 seconds.
Teammate Kendall Hinrichsen wasn’t far behind Dahl in the 800. She crossed fourth, in 2:37.41.
The Demon girls’ 4X200 team took home a Top-3 finish as well. Washington’s 4X200 quartet crossed the line in 1 minute, 52.83 seconds.
Ada Kendall picked up a sixth-place finish in the girls’ 200-meter dash. Kendall crossed the tape in 29.37 seconds.
The Demons had three seventh-place finishes. Abigail Kleese took seventh in the 400-meter dash, crossing the line in 1:08.80. Sadie Van Der Molen took seventh in the 3000-meter run, crossing in 13:35.40, and Leighton Messinger took seventh in the high jump, leaping 4 feet, 6 inches.
The Demon girls’ 4X400 team took eighth place, crossing the line in 4:38.61. The Demon 4X800 team took ninth, in 11:24.18, and Alyvia Anderson finished ninth in the 1500, crossing in 5:54.66.
On the boys’ side, the Demons’ best finishers were two Top-6 results. Alec Ulin finished sixth in the 200-meter dash, crossing the line in 24.25 seconds, and Logan McDole took sixth in the 400-meter dash, crossing in 56.41.
Greyson Hartman had the best field event finish for the Demon boys. Hartman took seventh in the shot put, throwing it 41-06.
Logan McDole took seventh in the 800, crossing the tape in 2:09.46. Tyler Alderton was 10th in the 1600, finishing in 5:01.14.
