Washington boys finish 3rd in team race; Girls take 5th

WEST DELAWARE — The Washington cross-country teams traveled to West Delaware on Tuesday for the 44th Annual West Delaware Hawks XC Invite. Both the boys’ team and the girls’ team finished in the Top-5.
The Washington boys took third place as a team, scoring 136 points. That put the Demons just five points behind second-place Oelwein’s total of 131.
Tyler Alderton finished the meet in the Top-10, taking ninth place, in 16 minutes, 52.7 seconds. Andrew Rees wasn’t far behind him, taking 13th place, in 17:04.6.
Sawyer Tschantz took 19th individually to put three Demons in the Top-20. Ethan Hotchkiss finished 47th. Parker Tschantz was 50th. Jace Sanders took 98th, and Ivan Rangel was 116th.
On the girls’ side, Washington finished fifth place, scoring 139 points on the day. Iris Dahl led the way once again, finishing in 20:05.7, for 12th.
Quincy Griffis crossed the line in 31st for the Demon girls. Alyvia Anderson and Kendall Hinrichsen were 37th and 38th. Angeline Anderson finished 44th. Emma Horak finished 60th.
Mount Vernon-Lisbon won both the boys’ and girls’ team results. The boys’ team scored 52 points, beating second-place Oelwein by 79. The girls scored 65 to win by 33.
