Demons track season to start Thursday

The time has come for fans of track and field events.

The Washington track teams are holding an indoor meet Thursday and Friday at Cornell College in Mt. Vernon.

Boys coach Steve Roth says those making the trip won?t be disappointed.

?People will see some outstanding state athletes and state champions,? he says. ?It?s a very competitive meet.

This is not the first time the Demons have held an indoor meet.

?This is our 10th year,? Roth says. ?It?s our third time at Cornell after previously being at Iowa for seven.?

Even though this event will be held inside, it will go well.

?I know it will be a great meet because my staff does a great job,? Roth says proudly.

There are 27 girls? teams and 29 boys? teams from the area taking part, with many from southeast Iowa.

Girls? field events start at 4 p.m. Thursday, Mar. 9, with running events to begin at 4:30 p.m. The boys will follow the same schedule for their activities Friday, Mar. 10.

Admission is $5 at the event.
