Washington opened its girls basketball season with a road win Monday, defeating Eddyville-Blakesburg-Fremont 47-31.
'Isabel Bailey played a good game at point for us and I thought she got us in the right sets and ran the offense well,” Washington coach Shannon Rugg said.
Bailey led the Demons in points with 12 and added five steals and an assist. Halle Leyden had nine points including two 3-pointers, three rebounds and a steal.
'I thought our bench came in and gave us a spark,” Rugg said. 'Kinsey Duwa, Phelan Hostetler and Olivia Pacha played a real good game. They had to play a lot of minutes due to foul trouble.”
Pacha had five offensive rebounds and three defensive while scoring eight points. Haylee Wilson added eight points and eight rebounds.
'I thought the girls played really well all night,” Rugg said. 'They played hard and competed for everything. The girls are buying to what we are trying to do. I'm proud of them and the way we played.”
