Diaz boosts Columbus, Hershberger helps Hillcrest

WAPELLO - The Columbus boys track team finished second and the girls finished sixth at the Wapello track meet Tuesday. Hillcrest's boys were sixth and the girls seventh.
Michelle Diaz was the highlight for the Wildcats as she tossed the shot put 34 feet. This distance was a personal record for Diaz and the sixth best all-time for Columbus.
Hillcrest's Aaron Hershberger won the 400-meter hurdles in a personal best time of 1 minute, 1.24 seconds. He was second in the 110 high hurdles with a time of 17.52 and placed fifth in the 100 with a personal best of 12.62 seconds. Ravens teammate Madeline Fox took five seconds off her season best time in the 400 meter hurdles to place third in the event.
Columbus had the top two finishers in both the 3200 and 1600, with Freddy Vergara winning the 3200 and Isaac Acosta winning the 1600. The Wildcats won the 4x800 relay with Damian Vergara, Timmie Hills-Carrier, Tyler Humiston, and Mason Hills-Carrier. Kaden Amigon finished second in the 400.
The girls 4x100 relay of Emma Milder, Alexa Alcala, Victoria Howell and Olivia Carrier took second for the Wildcats.
