Dieleman helps Gustavus Adolphus to third-place finish

Paige Dieleman of Washington helped the Gustavus Adolphus College gymnastics team to a third-place finish at the Hamline University Invitational on Saturday.

The Gusties registered a team score of 171.950. Winona State University won the meet with a score of 180.075, while Hamline placed second with a score of 175.250.

Dieleman, a junior, turned in Gustavus? top individual performance at the meet, placing third on the beam with a score of 9.325. She was also the team?s top performer on the vault, taking seventh with an 8.925.

Dieleman, the daughter of Jeff and Deb Dieleman, also finished ninth in the uneven bars (8.175) and 16

on the floor (7.950), and she took third place in the all-around competition with a score of 34.375. Courtney Benson of Hamline won the all-around competition with a score of 36.600, while Dieleman?s teammate, junior Jamie Ries, took second with a score of 35.250.

The Gustavus Adolphus gymnastics team will be back on the mat on Friday night at the UW-Stout triangular, which is set to take place in Menomonie, Wis., at 6 p.m.
