MT. PLEASANT — Mt. Pleasant senior Nate Dismang will be an Southeast Community College Blackhawk next fall.
Dismang made his decision official on Tuesday evening, when he signed his letter of intent in the Mt. Pleasant Community High School media center.
“I believe SCC is a great place,” Dismang said. “I'm grateful that I have a place to move on with my academics, and I'm glad I got ahold of Coach (Mike) Swink and he helped me out.”
Dismang had the second lowest nine-hole average among Panther boys golfers last year, at 44.80. His 18-hole average, of 91.50, was also second-best. Dismang will be the leading returner for the Panthers this spring.
“I started at a very young age, around four or five,” Dismang said. “I took a couple of years of a break, but my coach (Rob Zeglen) and Jim Becker did a thing called 'Young Guns' where they helped young golfers get better at the game.”
Dismang will join an SCC squad that currently holds New London graduate Mason Shelledy on the boys’ team, as well as Mt. Pleasant graduate Sami Wibben and Washington graduate Mallary Johnson on the girls’ team.
Dismang plans on staying at SCC for two years before transferring to a four-year school to continue playing golf. He will be majoring in business.
“My mom and brother are huge inspirations,” Dismang said. “They both majored in business, and I just like how they support others and themselves, and that's just what I want to be able to do.”
Dismang and the Panthers will tee off again this spring when the high school golf season begins again.
