It was a tough day for multiple area soccer teams on Tuesday as the boys? regional playoffs began, but one sneaked through to the next round.
The Columbus Wildcats took a 7-1 road victory over Mediapolis on Tuesday, and will move on to a second-round matchup with Holy Trinity Catholic on Thursday.
Ruben Paz scored a hat trick in the game against Mediapolis.
The two teams met once this season, with Holy Trinity earning the 2-0 home victory.
The game will begin in Fort Madison at 7 p.m.
Mid-Prairie traveled to Solon and saw its season end with a 3-0 loss to the Spartans.
One year after reaching the state title game, the Hawks went 8-7.
Highland hosted Williamsburg in a district matchup, but came away with a 4-2 season ending loss to the Raiders.
Iowa Mennonite also saw its season end on Tuesday, falling to West Liberty 6-1.
The lone IMS goal came on a penalty kick by senior Danny Lam.
All area girls? soccer teams will be in action for their playoff games on Tuesday, June 2.
