Several Trojan student-athletes earned all-conference honors for their winter sports participation in Southeast Conference play.
Bowling
boys
first team
Chance Swan, So.
'I started bowling really young because my parents did it and my sister also got into bowling and we joined the Saturday junior league. I always wanted to be as good as my dad because he's rolled a 300 and an 806 and he's realy proud of that, so I just want to be as good as my dad. The kid from Washington who beat me was nice, so that was cool. I'm working on my spare shooting since that's just OK. I don't have a straight ball, so I just have to flatten out my hand or throw it harder so it doesn't hook as much. I want to try to go to state and I'll need probably two 220 games in my series to get there.”
second team
Giuseppi Smith, Sr.
Shane Morrissey, Sr.
Dalton Rippey, Sr.
girls
second team
Jenna Wickenkamp, Sr.
'I pushed myself to my limits and my coaches helped me use different techniques to get better. Fairfield has wood lanes while the rest are synthetic, so you have to learn where to adjust your feet and where to throw it so you can at least knock down nine pins, if not throw a strike. I'm not sure what I want to pursue, but I do want to go to Indian Hills.”
Wrestling
285 pound second team
Aiden Pohren, So.
'I'm really proud of this season and I'm glad I got second team. I feel like I was a lot more aggressive this year as opposed to last year.”
Basketball
boys
Austin Simpson, Sr. - unanimous selection
Tristin Waugh, Sr. - unanimous selection
'When I was younger I didn't really think that I was going to play basketball when I was older because I wasn't very good and I got made fun of so I always wrestled. I switched over because I had such a great group of teammates in my class and we really bonded as we played really well through the years and kept getting better. So making first team, I never really knew that I would do that but seeing that it happened made me pretty happy. I mostly worked on ball-handling to make sure I didn't turn the ball over but even that wasn't the greatest. Trying to create more outside shots and score in the post was probably what I mostly tried to do. That and beating up on Austin everyday in practice and him beating up on me helped and our coaches really helped us become better players over the years.”
Collin Breen, Sr.
'I've put in a lot of work since I was a little boy and we put in a lot of work as a team this season. Obviously, we didn't get to where we wanted but we are still happy and aren't ashamed of anything. I worked on being confident and communicating with my teammates to try to be a better play-maker.”

SEC Player of the year
Austin Simpson, Sr.
'It means a lot, all the work we've put in over the years. I still remember going to skills and drills in second grade with Dan Breen and coming up through the system really helped push us to our limits. I couldn't have done it without any of my teammates, being there for me and pushing me. We have a great group of guys that work hard and we know our limits and how hard to push each other in practice.
