Drury lone winner for Mt. Pleasant girls tennis
Panthers fall in first home match of the year

MT. PLEASANT — The Mt. Pleasant girls tennis team suffered a home loss to visiting Keokuk on Monday, falling 8-1 in Southeast Conference play.
The Panthers’ one win on the day came in the singles competition, as newcomer Bethany Drury controlled the No. 5 game 8-2 over Keokuk’s Gracie Thompson.
The Panthers were unable to build on that win. No. 1 EllieSitumeang and No. 2 Mary Kate Peterson each lost 8-1. No. 3 Eva Rounceville and No. 4 Victoria Smith both fell 8-3, and Audrey Richmond was dropped 8-2 in the No. 6 matchup.
The Panthers struggled in doubles. Situmeang and Rounceville lost the No. 1 singles match 8-2. Peterson and Smith were defeated 8-4 in the No. 2 doubles match, and Drury and Richmond were downed 8-3 in the No. 3 doubles game.
Mt. Pleasant is now 0-2 on the season. The Panthers will take an 0-1 conference record into Fort Madison on Thursday.
