Durant ekes out volleyball win from Columbus

DURANT -- Monday’s Class 2A Region 8 postseason opener between Durant and Columbus wasn’t close, then it was, then it wasn’t, then it was, then it was over.
Columbus took two sets but couldn’t get the third in a 25-10, 21-25, 25-12, 23-25, 15-3 five sett match.
Victoria Howell led the Columbus Wildcats in their match with the Durant Wildcats with eight kills and eight digs. Sera Vela put up 14 assists and got down for three digs. Isabelle Lagunas had seven digs. Aracely Garza connected on four killsand two aces. Miriam Ruvacalba had three aces but Lily Coil landed seven aces. Coil added four digs and two kills.
Columbus ends its season at 4-21. Durant advances with a 11-24 record. Everyone should return in 2022 as there were no seniors on the Columbus team.
