Duwa earns All-State honors

The Mid-Prairie defense was stifling this season, and that led to a Class 2A All-State nod for one of the fiercest members of the defense, junior Levi Duwa.
Duwa, who was a defensive end for a Golden Hawk football team that went 8-3 on the year, was named to the second-team All-State for his efforts this season.
?Physically he?s pretty dominant,? Mid-Prairie head coach Pete Cavanaugh said. ?He?s big and fast, plus he had a great year of being coachable and learning a lot. He went to a lot of camps this summer and that helped with his confidence.?
The offseason work paid off, as Duwa finished the season with 73 tackles, 23 tackles for a loss and 13 sacks.
Next season, Cavanaugh hopes to see Duwa become more versatile in the defense, and potentially play multiple positions.
?He?s already pretty darn good, but little things,? Cavanaugh said. ?Defensively, if we want to stand him up to play linebacker and play different positions, that?s what we?d like him to do.?
Duwa also caught 20 passes for 359 yards and three touchdowns as the team?s primary tight end.
