The Keota baseball team saw its season extended in high scoring fashion on Tuesday night.
The Eagles snapped a four-game losing streak in the first round of district play, defeating English Valleys at home, 14-12 in eight innings, advancing to the district semifinals.
It was all English Valleys to start the game, as a run in the first and three in each of the second and third innings put them out in front 7-0 after three innings.
Keota responded in the top of the fourth inning, plating seven runs, and then took the lead in the fifth inning, making it 8-7 Eagles.
Two more runs in the top of the sixth helped Keota take a three-run lead, but English Valleys got those runs back in the bottom of the seventh, sending the game to extras.
The Eagles exploded for another big inning in the eighth, scoring four runs, then turned around and held English Valleys to two runs to continue the season for the Eagles on Thursday night.
Keota had lost six of its last seven games coming into the district quarterfinal match, but 11 hits on the day helped the Eagles move on.
Keota will take on Pekin in the district semifinal on Thursday at 7 p.m. with the winner of Highland and Lone Tree looming in the district finals.
