Three new teams grace the top of this week?s Gazette/KGYM football rankings, released Monday.

Three new teams grace the top of this week?s Gazette/KGYM football rankings, released Monday.
Cedar Rapids Xavier (Class 3A), Waukon (2A) and West Lyon (1A) vaulted to the top of their respective classes after last week?s No. 1 squads were tripped up.
Xavier (2-0) took care of business with a 16-0 win over Linn-Mar, and earned top billing on four of six ballots after Dallas Center-Grimes ended Pella?s 42-game winning streak, 10-7.
Dallas Center-Grimes (2-0) climbs two spots to No. 2; Sioux City Heelan (2-0) is No. 3. The Mustangs and the Crusaders each earned a first-place vote. Pella (1-1) slipped to fourth.
West Lyon?s 35-28 win over Boyden-Hull/Rock Valley impacted the top of two classes.
The Wildcats (2-0) moved to the head of 1A when Iowa City Regina fell to 0-2 with a 33-0 loss to Solon. They edged Van Meter (2-0), 54-53, at the top of the poll, and Regina is third.
Meanwhile, Waukon (2-0) replaced BHRV after holding off New Hampton, 28-20.
The Indians earned four first-place votes and are followed by Williamsburg (2-0), BHRV (1-1) and Mount Vernon (1-1).
Williamsburg has outscored its first two opponents by a 104-20 count; Mount Vernon rebounded from a Week 1 loss to Solon by edging West Delaware, 24-21. Both will be heavily favored in the rest of their games before colliding in the regular-season finale.
Iowa City West (2-0) remains at No. 3 after shredding Muscatine, 51-3. Cedar Rapids Prairie (2-0) climbed a spot to No. 9.
In Class A, Council Bluffs St. Albert (2-0) maintains a slim lead over Gladbrook-Reinbeck (2-0) after bashing 2A Carroll Kuemper, 55-7.
Harris-Lake Park, Don Bosco and Audubon ? all 2-0 ? remain the top three in 8-Player after lopsided wins. Harris-Lake Park hasn?t allowed a point through two games. Class 3A
