Fairfield’s Pacha, Mt. Pleasant’s Davidson, Mid-Prairie Brown medal in pentathlon
IOWA CITY — Southeast Iowa flexed its muscles one last time this track season, as three area athletes competed in the Iowa Association of Track Coaches state pentathlon on Saturday.
Fairfield’s Kelsey Pacha rose above all competitors in the girls pentathlon, taking first. Mt. Pleasant’s Will Davison was second in the boys’ competition, and Mid-Prairie’s Cain Brown finished right behind Davidson in third.
Pacha finished in the top three in all five events to take first place, winning two events along the way. She won the 100-meter hurdles in 15.77 seconds and took first in the long jump with a leap of 5.02 meters.
Pacha finished second in the high jump and the shot put, and took third in the 800-meter run.
Davidson flexed his muscles in the shot put competition, throwing 12.21 meters to take the top spot.
Davidson finished third in the 110-meter high hurdles, in 15.18 seconds, and fifth in the 800-meter run, the high jump and the long jump.
Brown did his best work in the leaping competitions. He won the high jump with a leap of two meters even, and won the long jump with a leap of 6.24 meters.
Brown finished fifth in the 110-meter high hurdles, sixth in the shot put and eighth in the 800-meter run.
