Fairfield is a special designated city in Iowa that has been recognized for its artists, musicians and creative small businesses. Fairfield also has aspirations to be more sustainable with energy, recycling and ?Going Green.? I am amazed that a few leaders in the city don?t see edible landscaping as part of this whole picture. There is a beautiful strawberry patch on Madison Avenue on the parking strip that is a delight to drive by. It is obviously an infringement on personal rights to tell someone they can?t grow lettuce in with their flowers anywhere on their own property. It is a joy that we live in a beautiful rural town where people are trying to provide for more of their food needs.
