Eight Panther wrestlers named All-SEC

The Southeast Conference released its All-SEC list last week and Mt. Pleasant was well represented. The Panthers had eight total names on the All-Conference list and led the SEC with seven first-teamers.
Ft. Madison, Washington and Mt. Pleasant were the class of the conference this year, so it was no surprise that all first-teamers came from the three schools. Mt. Pleasant had half the first-team list, with Washington getting four first-teamers and Ft. Madison getting three.
The Panthers had four seniors on the All-Conference team. State placewinner Nathan Wallace made the team at 145 lbs. State qualifier Zach Beason was named first team at 220 lbs. James DeMeyer was selected at 170 lbs. and Avante Henley made the first team at 132 lbs.
Mt. Pleasant had a couple of juniors make the first team. Corbin Broeker was selected at 106 lbs., and Jayden Davis made the team at 160 lbs.
There were only two freshmen that made the All-SEC, and the Panthers had one of tehm. Carson Coleman was selected to the first team at 113 lbs.
Ft. Madison led the way on the second team with six wrestlers named. Washington had four players. Keokuk had two, and both Mt. Pleasant and Fairfield had one.
The Panthers' lone representative was Abe Wilson, who was the fifth senior named overall. He got the nod at 152 lbs.
There were also six players named to the All-Academic team. Those wrestlers are juniors and seniors who had a 3.25 cumulative GPA or higher. Davis, Beason, Coleman, Wilson, Henley and Brayden Ackles were all honored for their work in the classroom.
