The Fairfield eighth-grade girls? ?A? team went back to winning with a decisive 41-21 victory over Burlington?s Aldo Leopold Tuesday at FMS.
Alli Deao led the offensive outburst, which saw the Trojans? lead swell to 23-6 at halftime, with a team-high 12 points.
Taylor Ferrel and Molly Ryan weren?t far behind Deao with eight points apiece. Mackenzie Flattery had six points, Delaney Neil scored five and Sierra Vogt added one basket.
The ?B? game was close the entire way, but Aldo Leopold held on for the 16-14 win. The Trojans trailed 8-7 at the midway point and 12-9 after three quarters. Fairfield traded baskets until it was 14-all with one minute left, but a shot by Aldo Leopold with 50 seconds remaining proved to be the game winner.
Lindsey Repp scored six points and Shannon Hopwood had four. Courtney Gilmore and Natalie Jones netted two points each.
?We came out ready to go tonight in both games. We had a tendency to start slow in our previous games, but not tonight,? said coach Derek Philips. ?Both teams are still improving, which makes for exciting nights of basketball.?
