The Washington eighth-grade girls? basketball team kicked off its season on Tuesday night, and came away with a split against Mt. Pleasant.

The Washington eighth-grade girls? basketball team kicked off its season on Tuesday night, and came away with a split against Mt. Pleasant.
A big second-quarter helped the Panthers pull away from the Demons in the A-Team game, as the Demons kept it tied at 5 after one quarter.
The Panthers outscored the Demons by eight in the second quarter, and pulled away to a 32-23 victory over Washington.
Addison Six led the team in a pair of categories, notching five points and six rebounds in the contest, while Allison Rebling, Halle Leyden and Taytum Hobscheidt each recorded five points for the Demons.
Olivia Pacha notched five rebounds in the contest, while Sophie Bell and Kaitlyn Mitchell led the team with two steals each.
In the B game, the Demons finished each break in the lead, as it pulled off a season-opening victory, 22-17 over Mt. Pleasant.
Dawsen Schluetter led the team with six points and two steals, while Rebling had four points and a pair of steals in the game.
Madison Fishback and Ellie Bell each had four points in the game, while Maggie Morgan and Leah Evans finished with a team-high three rebounds.
The eighth-grade girls will take on Fairfield, at Fairfield, for their next contest on Thursday night.
