Eighth-grade boys finish season

The Mt. Pleasant eighth-grade boys closed out their 2019 schedule at the end of the month, playing three games over the course of one week. The Panther 'A” team went 2-1 over the week. The 'B” team was 1-2 and the 'C” team was 0-1.
The first game day of the week was a Feb. 21 showdown with Washington. Mt. Pleasant's 'A” squad won one of the most exciting games of the year, 46-38 in double overtime. Kyler Stott dropped 20 points in the win, and Owen Vansickel scored 15.
The Panthers took the 'B” game 27-26. Mason Shelledy and Cason Edwards scored 11 points each. In the 'C” game, Washington won 27-21. Memphis James had 10 points for Mt. Pleasant.
Mt. Pleasant played Ottumwa one day later. The 'A” team stayed hot, winning 41-33. Stott finished with 15 points on the day, and Will Davidson was second on the team with eight. The 'C” team did not play.
On Feb. 26, Mt. Pleasant hosted Fairfield. The Panthers lost the eighth-grade game 49-37, despite 13 from Stott and nine from Vansickel, and lost the 'B” game 27-8.
