Eighth-grade football wins season opener
The Washington Middle School eighth-grade football team opened up their season Tuesday afternoon, and came away with a convincing victory over Keokuk.
The Demons went out to a 50-8 victory, to improve to 1-0 on the season.
Trashaun Willis had three touchdown runs in the victory, with all coming from 40 yards or more, while he threw for one with Spencer Sotelo on the receiving end of a 20-yard strike.

Trashaun Willis had three touchdown runs in the victory, with all coming from 40 yards or more, while he threw for one with Spencer Sotelo on the receiving end of a 20-yard strike.
Wyatt Stout had three touchdowns in the game, running for two 70-plus yard touchdowns, while returning an interception 55 yards for a score.
Defensively, Thomans Bias, Wilx Witthoft and Roy Carter each picked up tackles for a loss, while Chase Messamaker notched an interception.
Kael Adam finished his contest with a sack, forced fumble and fumble recovery.
The eighth-grade B team fell in their contest 14-0.
The Demons take on Ottumwa at home on Tuesday, Sept. 13.
