Eighth-grade girls’ A team dumps Demons

WASHINGTON - The Mt. Pleasant eighth-grade girls' basketball team traveled to Washington for their season opener on Tuesday. The 'A” team had a dominant outing, beating the Demons 40-16. The 'B” team fell 31-11.
The Panthers led 12-7 after the first quarter of the 'A” game. The Panthers stretched the lead to 21-9 at halftime. They led 36-11 after three quarters.
Eight different Panthers scored in the win. Chelsea Herrick scored eight points to lead the team.
Andrea Lopreato scored seven points. Tristian Shull and Jema Settles scored six each. Jacara Ivey and Kate Schimmelphenning scored five each. Meena Deesawasmon and Mackenzie Musselman finished the night with two points each.
Washington led 3-0 after one quarter of the 'B' game. The Demons led 14-2 at halftime and 25-7 after three quarters.
Isabella Meador scored four points to lead Mt. Pleasant. Meena Sylavong scored three apiece, and both Ashlie Bentler and Grace Sutton had two.
