Eleven Tigers set personal records at SLIAC Indoors

ELSAH, Illinois. - The Iowa Wesleyan Men's and Women's Track & Field teams traveled to Principia College today to compete in the SLIAC Indoor Conference Championships on Saturday. It was a day of personal records, broken records, set records, and SLIAC awards for the Tigers.
Keona Love had an impressive day for the Tigers as she was honored as the Women's Indoor Track Newcomer of the Year by the SLIAC. Love was able to secure 3rd place in the 60 m dash today, finishing with a time of 6.19 seconds. This secured her spot as a member of the 3rd Team All-Conference Team. Love also gave the Tigers some points by finishing fourth in the 200-meter dash, finishing the race in 27.90 seconds. In the 400-meterm dash, Love took second place running it in 1:06.18. In the long jump, Love was able to secure a spot at fourth place, jumping 4.38 meters.
Sierra Howardson also had a wonderful day today, breaking her mile record and setting the IW record for the 60-meter hurdles. Howardson finished 7th in the 800-meterm run with a time of 2:36.96. She beat her previous IW mile record by almost two seconds when she finished with a time of 5:57.94 today. Howardson also set a new IW record for the 60 m hurdles with a time of 11.78, which landed her in sixth place.
Allison Morris recorded a new personal record today in the 3000-meter run by finishing the event in 13:43.48.
Kilie Akers recorded two new personal records today, finishing the 200-meter dash in 31.29 seconds and the 60-meter dash in 9.30 secoonds.
Veronica Morgan was able to get herself a new personal record in the weight throw with a distance of 5.83 meters. She also competed in the shot put, finishing with a distance of 6.28 meters.
Lida Landre finished the 60-meter hurdles in seventh place with a time of 12.29 seconds. Landre also finished in seventh place in the long jump with a distance of 3.81 meters.
The men's team also had quite a few Tigers who set personal records today. Jacquez Hall, Gunner Martin , and Stafford Lewis all set personal records in the 60 m dash. Stafford led, finishing in 10th place, with a time of 7.28. Martin finished in 7.68 seconds and Hall finished in 7.77 seconds. Trevor Haasis also competed in the 60-meter dash, running an 8.10 seconds.
Sebastian Armenta earned himself a spot on the All-Conference third team by throwing 11.98 meters in the shot put, which allowed him to take third place. Armenta threw 9.27-meters in the weight throw to secure 11th place.
Maxwell Paskowitz locked down fourth place in the shot put, after throwing 11.80 meters.
Trent Paschal set a personal record in two events today. First, he was able to throw a personal record in the weight throw by throwing for a distance of 10.89 m. That distance put him in 7th place. Paschal also set a personal record in the shot put, throwing 10.36 meters, which landed him in 10th place for the day.
Stafford and Hall were also both able to set a new personal record in the 200-meter dash. Stafford ran a 24.21-second race and Hall finished in 25.81 seconds. Martin also ran the 200-meter dash, finishing with a time of 25.60.
Ryan Hutchinson ended in 12th place in the 400-m dash, finishing 56.22 seconds. 2:38.79 was the finishing time for Hutchinson in the 800-m run.
Hampton secured seventh place in the triple jump with a distance of 11.92 meters. He landed in 11th place for the long jump, after jumping a distance of 5.51 meters.
Haasis threw two personal records in the weight throw and shot put. He first threw 10.66 meters in the weight throw for a PR and then shattered that by throwing 10.89 meters to secure eighth place. In the shot put, Haasis threw 9.82 meters to set a new personal record. Haasis was also able to jump a distance of 4.95 meters in the long jump.
Kiel Parkhurst set a personal record in the shot put when he was able to throw for a distance of 7.81 meters today. Parkhurst also threw the shot put today for 8.33 meters.
Alex Rivera also competed in the shot put and was able to record a distance of 9.74 meters. Rivera was able to throw 9.14 meters in the weight throw at today's meet.
Pedro Palomo finished the 400 m dash with a time of 1:00.96.
The men's team finished the meet in fourth place as a team with 10 points. The women's team was just two points shy of a three-way tie for third, but with 23 points, landed in fifth place.
The Tigers will begin competition for the outdoor season on March 21 at the Central Methodist Invite at Central Methodist University in Fayette, Missouri.
